Produced by smallholders in the rural areas of Aponte, NariƱo, this coffee is grown by approximately 200 farmers who belong to an indigenous reserve. Since 2017, these growers have operated as part of the Regional Plus programme, establishing themselves as pioneers of honey processing in Colombia. The coffee is a 100% Caturra microlot, a variety originally from Brazil that is favored for its natural resistance to plant diseases and higher yields compared to the Red Bourbon variety. The unique environmental conditions of the region, characterized by volcanic ash soil, low relative humidity, and consistent temperatures, allow the cherries to dry slowly and develop a refined profile that achieved a cupping score of +86.
